Camp Jam in the Pines 2008
Camp Jam in the Pines was held Sept. 18-20 2008 at the Old Cedar Campground in Monroeville, NJ.
This event was sponsored impart by WXPN-88.5 FM http://www.xpn.org/ .
Old Cedar Campground is one of the best facilities I’ve been to so far. As a camp site the infrastructure is first rate, from the extensive electrical power system, to the camper flush facilities at each site.

The grounds have many campsites but, it never feels like the Bataan Death March to get to the venue. Camp sites are large and tree lined, with port-o-johns stationed along the roads to the stage area in case you get an urge. There is also a large playground available for the kids. The stage was nestled in next to a pond where you can swim.
A large row of vendor tents lined the back of the audience area. D&G Catering/Family BBQ provided excellent BBQ pork, chicken, and greens, and Mac & cheese that was out of this world. Although if you don’t want a steady diet…BYOF…It is a camping trip remember. The tents had a neat selection of dyes, and jewelry, there was even a fella blowin glass, and giving demonstrations.
The staff I encountered over the weekend where, at once informed, and courteous, but above all laid back.
The 2 day ticket was $65 day of, but was well worth it. From the sets Friday night I caught by Billy Hector, and then The Bridge, both acts rocked. Entrain, your set sounded great but I was headed out to a prior engagement. When I returned Saturday night I heard a series of sets from BD Mylo and the Go Daddys, Emory Joseph, and then the Quixote Project that where absolutely kickin and tight.
As you can tell from the images a good crowd turned out for some great weather and live music.
Thank You Camp Jam Staff and Sponsors
We’ll see you Next Year
Oh yeah by the way can we rename the event? My friend Rob pointed out, no pines; might we call it Camp Jam in the Gymnosperms next year?
